Description

1992-1997 Ford F series and Bronco Instrument Cluster Repair

This is a repair service to your 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, and early 1997 Ford F150, F250, F350, F450, and Bronco instrument cluster, also known as the speedometer, gauge cluster, or dash cluster.  We offer a fast turnaround on repairs and a five-year warranty.  With this service, we will repair issues with a faulty PSOM (programmable speed output monitor).  When this component fails on your cluster, it will cause issues with a faulty speedometer as well as transmission shifting issues.

See our instructions below for sending in or dropping off your cluster for repair.

Repair Description

  • Repair includes:
  • Faulty / dead speedometer
  • Blank odometer – flashing error message
  • Transmission shifting problems
  • Replacement lights
  • LED upgrade available

Faulty Gauges:

If your cluster has problems with other gauges such as the fuel, oil, temperature, or battery, this fix will not correct those problems.  However, if you would like to purchase replacement pods, we do keep those on hand and sell them for an additional fee.

Inspection:  Outside of the speedometer, the other gauges have direct power from the wiring harness.  We recommend inspecting the copper leads on the backing to verify it is not damaged or pulled up.  If so, these will need to be corrected or replaced.

Pods:  The pods that hold the gauges can become loose over time.  If this happens, the gauges can become stuck and not move properly.  If you are having these symptoms, you will need to adjust the backing to keep it in place.  This can be done upon request with your repair, but is not part of our normal repair.

Warranty Information

Our instrument clusters are rebuilt with new, better than OEM materials.  We stand behind our work place a five-year warranty on the repairs performed.  A warranty sticker is placed on the cluster at the time of repair.  If the warranty sticker is removed or torn, then warranty will then be void.  Warranty can not be kept on vehicles involved in a flood.

Frequenty Asked Questions

Q:  Will the cluster have to be programmed when it is returned to me?

A:  No.  Because we are repairing your cluster and not replacing it, there is no programming required.

Q:  How long will it take for me to get me cluster back?

A:  Repairs have a 2-5 day turn around.  Transit times are typically 2-3 days each way, so you can plan on about a week to week and a half total.

Q:  How do I send in a cluster for repair?

A:  Purchase the repair service you are requesting on our website.  Then, print a copy of your order and send it in with the cluster to the address stated on our site.  This information is also found under the “Instructions” tab on our main menu.

Q:  When do I pay for the repair?

A:  You can prepay on the website with PayPal or a credit card or you can send the cluster in with your information and we will contact you for a credit card after the repairs have been performed.

Q:  Can I drive my truck while the cluster is removed?

A:  Most Ford vehicles cannot be driven without the cluster installed.  Please check with your mechanic to verify.

Troubleshoot Process

If you are experiencing a speedometer waiver between 50-70 mph, your problem likely lies outside of the instrument cluster.  Here is a list of items that will fail and often cause this issue:

Faulty vehicle speed sensor – we recommend purchasing new OEM.  These are available for $50.  When testing, the readings should be between 900 and 2500 ohms.

Chipped tone ring

VSS air gap – Correction: File down mounting side of VSS to adjust clearance

VSS connector and wiring problems on frame rail
